Jesup Society

The Jesup Society, named after Mrs. Maria DeWitt Jesup, honors those who have made bequests or life income gifts to the American Museum of Natural History.  Mrs. Jesup left a $5 million bequest in 1912, which by today's estimates would be $100 million. She was a true nature lover and felt that our natural history should be preserved for future generations in our Museum.

You will be enrolled in the Jesup Society when you tell us that you have included the American Museum of Natural History in your estate plans or when you fund a life income gift, such as a charitable gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust.

Members of the Jesup Society receive:

  • the member newsletter, Life's Great Gifts, which highlights upcoming Museum exhibitions, offers timely information on tax law and tax benefits and features stories about remarkable individuals who have left legacy plans for the Museum.
  • invitations to exhibition openings and exclusive Museum events.
  • other special benefits that are tailored to fit the gift.

Because all planned gifts represent an expression of lifetime commitment to the Museum, the Jesup Society has no minimum level of gift and membership is perpetual.
